The Kerala State Transport Department is poised to enhance the rigor of driving tests. A ten-member committee, led by the Senior Deputy Transport Commissioner, has been appointed by the department to recommend reforms, with proposals expected within a week.
Upon assuming office, Transport Minister Ganesh Kumar announced plans to revamp both the driving test and learner’s test. The minister believes that the existing driving test is too lenient and attributes the rise in accidents to its ease.
Minister Kumar emphasized that the revised road test would incorporate additional elements such as reverse parking, vehicle loading, and retrieval.
