Firefly – Alibaug, Maharashtra

Firefly in Alibaug is one of the most unique villas both in terms of its ethos and design philosophy. The idea was to create a sustainable home with a community focus. The owners started off by planting over 300 trees in a barren plot of land. This has, over the years, given the place its current green canopy. Over time, the house was built with yellow stone from the area and plenty of local help and inputs.

Besides the gorgeous infinity pool, it’s the shelves heaving with books that grab your attention reflecting a range of interests and built over years of collecting. A cheerfully blue tiled kitchen invites guests to cook their own meals. There are frogs and birds for company as well as Skylar, the young dog who is a complete treat to be around.
