Yes, all art lovers in India are eagerly waiting for the third Edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, the biennale for promoting the new creative trends. Nobody wants to miss out their golden opportunity to watch beautiful paintings and vibrant installations that changed world of art. The art exhibition will be started on December 12, 2016 and the gorgeous port city is getting ready to exhibit artworks across a wide range of mediums. The celebrated Chilean poet Raul Zurita has several famous works in his credit which include INRI, Purgatorio, Zurita and La Vida Nueva. He is one of the founders of an art action group named CADA (Colectivo de Acciones de Arte). Founded in 1979, this art action group is mainly dedicated for the creation of political and public art that would defend against the military dictatorship of Pinochet. His sky-written poetry above New York City in 1982 and inscribed poem in 1992 in the sands of Atacama Desert made him famous.
The well known Chinese poet Ouyang Jianghe is a famous critic of art, music and literature. He is one of the “Five Masters from Sichuan and president of the renowned Chinese magazine “Jintian”. His first English poetry collection “Double Shadows” was published in the year 2012 by Zephyr Press. He will be participated in the Kochi- Muziris Biennale 2016 with poetry installations.
Sophie Dejode and Bertrand Lacombe
Both of these artists are from France and they have been working together since 2000. They are usually preparing large installations and their Floating Land projects promote contemporary art and got huge response from the art world. Their work mainly involves installations, sculptures, drawings, scale models and films. These contemporary artists have exhibited their art works in several countries like Switzerland, Germany, France and Tanzania.
Caroline Duchatelet is from France and her work focus mainly on landscape and light. She is an established video artist and you can see the installations and video works of this great artist from France in the Kochi- Muziris Biennale 2016.

Born in Chennai, this great artist lives and works in Bangalore. He is among the best contemporary artists in India and mainly works on video installations and graphic books. Orijit Sen is a well known graphic artist based in Delhi. He is among the first graphic novelists of India. His works are usually a combination of miniature style and his own unique graphic style. This contemporary artist has done several museum design projects and exhibitions not only in the country but in Russia and United Kingdom. He is the co-founder of People Tree, a center for artists to meet and inspire.
The theatre personality Anamika Haksar has received her training at the National School of Drama and later specialized in direction at the Soviet Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow. She has directed more than 30 plays and also an activist. She will be participated at the Kochi- Muziris Biennale 2016 with her unique performance.
This Calcutta-born artist is now lives in Holland and his medium of artwork are sculptures, drawings and installation. He has completed his degree and post graduate degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at M.S. University, Baroda and later obtained another Masters degree in Visual Arts from the University of California. This artist has been also a part of many art residency programs.
T V Santhosh
Born in Kerala, T V Santhosh has obtained a great presence over the last decade in the art scenario of India and international level. He has achieved his bachelor’s degree in painting from Santiniketan. This great Indian artist also got his Master’s in sculpture from M.S. University, Vadodara. His sculptures and installations have been shown in several museums and art galleries in India and abroad including Hawana and Moscow biennale.
Desmond Lazaro is a famous painter born in Leeds, UK, presently lives and works in Pondicherry. He achieved his MFA at the MS University, Baroda after he came back to India. He studied for nearly 12 years under Banu Ved Pal Sharma, a Jaipur based artist who is an expert on this age-old tradition and mastered in techniques of miniature painting. His art works like “House of God” got much appreciation.
This self-taught Italian artist achieved a great position in the contemporary Italian painting scenario. He participated in several shows and exhibited his works at the Biennale of Venice held in the year 2009. He collaborated with many directors, musicians and writers over the past years. He will be a great strength of the upcoming Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016.

Born in Kanagawa, she is a Tokyo based Japanese artist who mainly produces installations. She achieved her MFA at the Tokyo University of Art. Yuko Mohri acquired the Nissan Award 2015 and several other achievements including the Asian Cultural Council fellowship. The art installations of Yoko MOhri will certainly be an attraction of Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016.
Katrina Neiburga and Andris Eglitis
Both are Latvia based video artists and many shows exhibited their work. Their multi-media art installation named ARMPIT got much appreciation. They will be participating in the 2016 Kochi-Muziris Biennale.
Valerie Mejer is a well known poet and painter based in Mexico. Her poetry collection “Rain of the Future” noticed by many and got much appreciation. She will be a part of Kochi-Muziris Binnale with her poetry installation.
Camille Norment is a noted American writer, artist, composer and musician. Born in Oslo, Norway, she is also a well known multi-media artist and mainly produces sound installations. Her works are the combination of sound, light, sculptures and installations. Her light installation in the name of “the Moss Project” has appreciated worldwide.
Pedro Gomez-Egana is a young artist born in Columbia currently work between Denmark and Norway. Even though he studied visual arts, music composition and performance arts, his main medium of art are installations. This Finnish-English artist and musician is a part of the Nalle musical projects since 2004. She is also an established artist in the field of visual sound performance. Her work has been featured in many areas like BBC Radio 3’s Composer’s Rooms and the Verb and BBC Radio 4’s the Chamber and The Wire Magazine. The work of this exceptional artist is humane and original. She will be participated at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016 with her sound installations.
Scottish artist Charles Avery is currently based in London. He has been devoted his time and practice for the everlasting portrayal of an imaginary island since 2004 through texts, drawings and sculptures. Dana Awartani is a young artist from Saudi Arabia. She completed her Master’s degree in Traditional Arts at the well known Princes School London. You can see the influence of illumination, geometry and tile-work in the creations of this young artist. In fact, she tries to understand a relationship between nature and geometry. Awartani is also devoted to refresh historical techniques and worked on several traditional art projects. You can also see her artworks in wood, ceramic and stained glass.
Erik Van Lieshout
He is a contemporary artist from Netherlands widely known for his multi-media installations.
