Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is considered to be one of the world’s most prominent International cross country races that is held in different stages in Abu Dhabi with a long history to boast about. The points from this race is accounted in the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for cars and trucks and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship for bikes. It will be held at the Automobile and Touring club, Abu Dhabi from 20th March to 26th March 2020.
It was earlier known as UAE desert challenge. It was renamed as Abu Dhabi desert challenge in 2009. Automobile and Touring club of Abu Dhabi is the main organizers of the event. It is one of the most challenging rallies in the whole world tiring both the mind and body. Dr. Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE is the founder of this event.
It is also considered as the event that boost up the tourism industry of Abu Dhabi by making it the hub of major sporting events. 110 drivers and riders from 37 countries will participate in this grueling event of Abu Dhabi desert challenge 2020. This is the 31 year of the Desert Challenge. In the event, the riders will try to control the untamed nature of the Liwa area and the Moreeb area of the Empty Quarter. The Abu Dhabi desert challenge is the season opening round for the international rallies.
The competitors will start their five day desert challenge that goes through five stages on April 4th. When they reach the finishing line on April 11th they would have covered 1987km. Originally cars were the only competitors in the desert challenge. It allowed motorcycles since 1995 and trucks since 2002. Motor bikes, quad bikes, four wheelers and trucks compete in the Abu Dhabi desert challenge 2020.
There will be two days of scrutinizing and documentation for the competitors. Then they will be compete for a super special stage in which the starting line is decided.
The striking feature of the event is that special arrangements are made to ensure the safety of the competitors in the Abu Dhabi desert challenge 2020.
