The pilgrims who bring ghee in the Irumudi to conduct the consecration ceremony for the Neyyabhishekam are the ones who embark on the pilgrimage with joy. Pilgrims can have the opportunity for Neyyabhishekam from 3:30 AM to 11 AM. To avail this opportunity, they must have darshan before 10 PM the previous night and then exit after performing the darshan.
Due to the daily bustling activity, upon reaching the 18th step, one must endure a wait of at least an hour on the flyover for darshan. Consequently, a significant number of individuals aspiring to partake in Neyabhishekam find themselves unable to seize the opportunity.
Ghee sourced from Ayyappamudra (coconut), carried within the Irumudikattu, is used for the ceremonial abhishekam. Following the darshan, find a suitable spot to sit and carefully untie your Irumudikettu. Proceed to break the ghee and transfer it into the designated vessel. It is advisable to purchase Abhishekam tickets in advance. The primary ticket counter for Abhishekam is located beneath the Malikappuram flyover. Additionally, tickets can be obtained at the Maramat office building.
