SummerFest Abu Dhabi is a 52 day extravaganza filled with fun and entertainment that will occur at Abu Dhabi from June 27 to August 17 2013. It happens during the mid-summer-the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.
It will feature a group of edutainment activities, shows of world standard and international performances that will be held at the four halls of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Simultaneously there will be Arabic concerts, comedy nights, theatre plays and sports activations by International personalities in the du Forum, Yas Island.
A large three storey Obstacle course in the ADNEC is the main highlight of the SummerFest Abu Dhabi. It is the largest in the history of the SummerFest. It is an eternal favourite among children of all ages, right from the beginning of the SummerFest. The obstacle course will have rock climbing walls, zip lines, a maze and huge towers about a height of ten metres in the air. It covers a large plot that have dimensions 40m by 20m. After enjoying the obstacle course children can direct towards the Extreme Tower Bag Jump where they can fly down into a safety mattress.
A live Cartoon Network Village is another attraction of the SummerFest Abu Dhabi. It will consist of replica sets of life size and will have interactive games that feature the most adorable cartoon characters of the popular Cartoon network of the region. Similarly visitors are free to create the Abu Dhabi skyline in the LEGO zone.
Open stage is the new addition to this year’s SummerFest where visitors can sit on bean bags and watch the international mini shows of the Bubble men, the child friendly balloon caricaturists and other exciting stunt performances.
Two regional premiers will kick start the Show world. The first one on this list is the Lazy town live show that occurs from June 27 to July 3.The second is the show by the Bananas in pyjamas duo B1 and B2 that runs from July 4 – July 9.
Shows of the SummerFest Abu Dhabi will also occur at the du Forum starting with the laughter show of the Arabic comedians in early July. The prestigious Arabic singers of the region will then perform during the Eid Al Fitr celebrations from August 9 – 10.
SummerFest Abu Dhabi is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Cultural Authority. Tickets to the event is AED 40 (US$11) for adults and AED 20 (US$5.5) for children under the age of 12. It is free for kids under the age of two years.
