Kerala Voted Best Asian Destination by readers of independent online travel magazine Smart Travel Asia.
Approximately 5,000 voters from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, the United States and the UK, among other countries, participated in Smart Travel Asia’s Best in Travel online poll. The participants were asked to cast their votes in 12 categories, which included top 10 holiday destinations, top airports, airlines, leisure hotels, spas and budget airlines, among other things.
Kerala is followed by Bali, Phuket and the Maldives. Apart from Kerala, the other two Indian holiday destinations which managed to be there in top ten were Rajasthan (eighth) and Goa (tenth). Bangalore has been figured in the eighth position in Asia for business and Jet Airways also finds its place among top ten for its business class and cabin crew.
Known as God’s Own Country, holiday in Kerala with green paddy fields, Ayurveda, serene backwaters, beaches and laid back style were a winning combination for travellers who want to escape from hustle and bustle of city life. It clearly fit the criteria for the thousands of travelers who voted for Asia’s best destination.
The poll that was conducted throughout May-July this year, put the spotlight on inspirational brands and travel trends in the region. The vote is based on actual travel experience, word-of-mouth, as well as an idea of the brand drawn from ads and PR
Approximately 60 percent of voters are based in Asia, 20 percent in UK / Europe and 20 percent in USA and North America.
