Kerala tourism enhances its attractions by launching the first-ever heli-tourism experience in the state. Travelers can effortlessly navigate between their preferred destinations, enjoying a thrilling aerial adventure over Kerala, the captivating “God’s Own Country.”
Kerala’s Tourism Minister, Mr. P. A. Mohamed Riyas, officially launched the state government’s innovative heli-tourism initiative. He marked the occasion by presenting tickets to the first group of four passengers, connecting key locations across the state through air travel.
The state stands poised to draw significant private investments with its groundbreaking project, tapping into the nation’s avant-garde heli-tourism policy. This initiative, unveiled at the heli-taxi inaugural event in Kochi’s Nedumbassery, marks another milestone for Kerala Tourism, known for its impactful ventures like houseboats and caravans.
At the gathering near Cochin International Airport, the minister inaugurated the heli-tourism microsite at CIAL Academy. The microsite is designed to furnish extensive details on the various travel packages offered by helicopter operators, including trip specifics and booking procedures.
The program enables tourists to reduce their travel time between destinations. Considering Kerala’s population density, which is three times higher than the national average, surface travel presents specific challenges. Hence, heli-tourism can provide substantial advantages, he underscored.
As the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model advances, authorities plan to set up additional helipads strategically and extend the network through collaborative ventures. The inception of Sky Escapes stems from extensive deliberations between authorities and tour operators, driven by the growing demand for diverse facilities at tourism destinations to cater to the evolving needs of travelers.
The event saw the presence of Mr. S. K. Sajeesh, Chairman of Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd, Mr. K. Biju, Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Mr. P. B. Nooh, Director of Kerala Tourism, Mr. S. Prem Krishnan, Additional Director, and Mr. N. S. K. Umesh, Collector of Ernakulam District.
