Kerala leads the nation in the number of five-star rated hotels, boasting a total of 46 luxurious establishments. Following closely behind is Maharashtra, securing the second spot on the list. According to Tourism Minister Mohammed Riyas, Kerala not only holds the record for the most five-star hotels but also tops the charts in terms of hotel bookings. The picturesque Kumarakom, near Kottayam, takes the lead in attracting the highest number of bookings, with Kovalam securing the third position.
In the first nine months of 2023, Kerala witnessed an unprecedented influx of domestic tourists, with a reported 1.59 crore visitors during this period. This marks a significant increase compared to the 1.33 crore tourists recorded in the same timeframe the previous year.

In line with these efforts, a tourism investors meeting was convened at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The aim of this event was to propel Kerala’s status as the premier tourist destination in the country and explore avenues for growth in the sector.
