Anayadikuthu – Unique Name

Different folklores are there behind the name of this place. One traditional belief is that wild elephants used to walk up to the canals in this region that existed near the waterfall. One of the elephants lost its footing and accidently fell into the waterfall. The place where the elephant has slipped and fall later named ‘Anachadikuthu’. Later, it shrank to Anayadikuthu. In another story, two elephants fought at this place and one fell into the waterfall. Eventually, people started to call this area, Anachadikuthu and diminished to Anayadikuthu.

Shallow And Safe Place

Unlike other waterfalls in Kerala, Anayadikuthu is a safe place to visit. You may feel it deep and unsafe at the first sight but is shallow and safe. There is a small forest near this waterfall which is a haven for different avian species. You can also see plenty of monkeys in this forest. The rock formation around this cascade is a good resting place for visitors. Passes through the Kambakkanam and Neykuthanal, many people find the Anayadikuthu is a great place for a trek.
