The Lockhart Tea Factory & Museum, a century-old heritage orthodox tea facility, stands as one among several operational local tea factories. It offers visitors the unique opportunity to embark on a factory tour that not only showcases the historical significance but also provides insights into traditional orthodox tea manufacturing and modern tea processing, spanning from picking to export. Open to the public during regular working hours, the factory tour allows observers to witness the diverse stages of tea processing.

Lockhart Tea estates were founded in the year 1879 in the High Range Kannan Devan Hills by M/s. Baron John Rosenberg and his son Baron Otto.

The Lockhart Tea Factory visiting charges are as follows:

  • Indian adults: INR 250
  • Indian children (8-14 years): INR 100
  • Foreign adults: INR 500
  • Foreign children (8-14 years): INR 250

The admission cost covers a guided tour of both the factory and the museum, accompanied by a tea-tasting experience. Led by an informed guide, the hour-long tour delves into the rich history of tea cultivation and production in Munnar, exploring the various types of tea and their manufacturing processes. The tea-tasting session provides visitors with the opportunity to savor a diverse range of teas crafted at the factory.

The Lockhart Tea Factory is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 6 days a week. Monday Holiday.
