An adventurous Journey through pristine beauty with cool springs, dense green jungle, and finally reach Vellarimala – abode of clouds. Vellarimala is a part of Western ghat mountain ranges, and it is also known as Camel’s Hump Mountains. It is situated 6333ft above sea level. Most of the hill range comes under the Meppady Forest Range of South Wayanad Division with some parts falling Thamarassery Range of Kozhikode Division. One can see Kozhikode plains on one side and greenery of Wayanad on the other side while looking from the Vellarimala hilltop. Vavulmala with a height of 7678 ft is the tallest peak in this range.
While trekking, always follow the rules of Forest department and take the assistance of guides as Vellarimala is a eco protected zone. It is home rich flora and fauna which is similar to Nilgiri hill ranges. One can witness roaring waterfalls coming from the towering cliff and narrow streams cascading down the rocks during the dry season also.

Attractions during trekking to Vellarimala hilltop
First trekking point is Olichuchattam waterfalls. Have to trek 6kms distance to reach here from Muthappanpuzha. From there jungle becomes narrower and wild, has to cover 9 kms to reach Vellarimala hilltop. On the way to hilltop, you may relax at one of these places- Swargamkunnu, Masthakappara, Damodaran Kolli, and Kanjippara
